Staying in Waiblingen

As at every Event there is the challenge of Accommodation. We want to give you some tips and options for finding a place to plank down, that you want to consider for staying in and around Waiblingen.

  • For those who don’t have a car or don’t want to use it this often over the weekend, we recommend searching for a Hotel, Apartment or Vacation rental near a train station or bus stop/station.
  • You can also go looking for a group to join in on. This not only saves you money by sharing the cost with others, it gives you the opportunity to get in contact with others and meet new friends.
  • While Hotels and Apartments still tend to be pricey, we can also recommend going Camping. Luckily we have a good Campground in Bad Cannstatt with showers right at the Cannstatter Wasen. You even have an U-Bahn (Train) station right next to it. We also have plenty more details about camping down below.
  • The S-Bahn lines S2*¹ and S3*² and MEX lines 13*³ and 19*⁴ are congesting through Waiblingen. Along these lines are multiple Hotels and Apartments.

Distance is in minutes and out going from Waiblingen.
*¹ S2 Schorndorf (20 min) – Filderstadt (47 min)
*² S3 Backnang (18 min) – Vaihingen / (Flughafen/Messe) (29 min / 42 min)
*³ MEX 13 to Schorndorf 11min – Stuttgart (11 min)
*⁴ MEX 19 to Backnang 14min – Stuttgart (11 min)

Please understand that we can not list Holiday/Vacation Apartments and rentals as well as Private Accommodation. This would require that we had to check every single one of them, which is just not possible.

Camping

With camping, we mean both, tenting and/or using a campervan / caravan or RV.

  • For tenting there is not that much to say, please stick to official camping sites, “wild camping” is usually not allowed in germany and authorities will enforce this. Every camping site has their own rules, so just read up on them.
  • If you do not like tents, there are a lot of options to rent a campervan/caravan or even a RV from commercial or private entities. Camper/RV specific parking lots will also (usually) have access to electricity, waste disposal and water.
  • Whoever has a Camper/RV can also get a good spot directly across the street from Galacon in Waiblingen, but the available space is limited.
  • Please note that in Germany, driving anything over 3500kg requires a special licence. So does pulling a big caravan with your own vehicle.
  • Also, the area around Stuttgart has many areas where certain diesel vehicles are forbidden. So, please do your research before choosing this option.

If you manage to find a good deal, plan ahead and share your van with friends, camping can be a lot cheaper than a hotel, but still offer you a solid roof and hopefully even a working shower.
